When the Wild Things Mend
Book design
I was approached by Rabata Daybreak Press to design the cover and internal pages for Sahar A. Dandan’s book When the Wild Things Mend.
A poetry collection that maps the space between a woman’s silence and her scream examining the wounds that shape womanhood and the legacies mothers pass on.
The cover of the book explores the concept of ‘Kintsugi’. A Japanese art technique that repairs broken pottery by mending with it gold, being that the pieces are more beautiful being broken and mended. This is a consistent theme that is explored in Dandan’s poetry collection.
The flowers present on the cover represent blooming and a sense of healing and growing.
